Instructor in Civil Defense and Crisis Preparedness

MSB works for a safer society in a changing world with a focus on the development of civil defense. From January 1, 2026, we will be the Authority for Civil Defense. The Authority for Civil Defense has two clear roles: we are the leading, directing, and coordinating authority in civil defense and we are the sector-responsible authority for the emergency services and the protection of the civilian population. The vision of the Authority for Civil Defense is "Together for a strong civil defense".

MSB conducts training to strengthen and develop capabilities in civil defense and crisis preparedness.

We who teach in the agency's collaborative courses, such as Duty Officer, exercise courses, crisis communication, and staff, need to grow in number.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks

In the role of instructor at MSB, you will work with both teaching and developing various subjects included in the training programs. In this area, society is changing rapidly, and as a teacher, you need to stay informed and actively collaborate with colleagues both nearby and in other departments within the agency.

In short, the work involves:

• Teaching in the area of Duty Officer - TiB
• Preparing, conducting, and following up on our other training in crisis preparedness and civil defense together with colleagues
• Contributing to the development of training in the area
• Working independently and in a structured manner towards deadlines.

The work involves frequent travel. Many of our trainings are held at MSB's schools in Revinge and Sandö but also in other locations across the country.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant academic education in areas such as crisis preparedness, total defense, political science, risk and security, or education and experience in areas such as staff work, crisis management, exercise leadership, or equivalent qualifications as deemed by the employer.
• Experience as a Duty Officer
• Good ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Pedagogical education
• Experience in conducting training

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your workplace will be one of our operational locations in Karlstad, Stockholm, Sandö, or Revinge, and travel within Sweden is included in the employment. Our use of digital tools means that there is an opportunity to work partially remotely.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security review with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at MSB are war-placed.

About Us

The position is located in the Department of Emergency Services and Protection of the Population, in our training operations and in the unit for collaborative training. The unit's task is mainly to prepare, resource plan, conduct, and follow up and develop training in crisis preparedness and civil defense. This includes conferences, projects, commissioned training, and other assignments.
